POA Board Election Results

This just in... Lee Wedig is the top vote getter in the election. Congratulations to Lee and the other new members of the Brunswick Plantation Property Owners Association Board of Directors. The full announcement from Mr. Anderson follows:

TO ALL PROPERTY OWNERS

FROM MASON ANDERSON, PRESIDENT BPPOA

SUBJECT ELECTION REPORT

The results are in from the accounting firm handling the vote count. Their certification states, and I, therefore, announce the results as follows:

Lee Wedding 746 votes

Robert McLaughlin 556 votes

Cai Raber 540 votes

Byron Scott 437 votes

Vince Juric 405 votes

Betsy Moyer 400 votes

John Welsh 340 votes

Ronald Melvin 252 votes

The top 4 were therefore elected. I announced that Caw Caw will appoint Terry Watkins, our Comptroller, who is very knowledgeable about the operation of POA'S as our Representative on the new board. That means that LEE WEDDING, BOB McLAUGHLIN, CAI RABER, BYRON SCOTT AND TERRY WATKINS will be the new board.

I believe all 5 of these men are very well qualified to sit on this Board. I think the community will be in good hands as we move forward in this new era. I also want to thank all the people who placed their name in the running for a seat on the board-----they were all well qualified too, and I am sure they will support the board in its work------I feel sure there will be work for them to do!

Lee Weddig gains endorsement for POA Board of Directors

The Editors of the BrunswickPlantation.org web site are proud to endorse Lee Weddig as our top choice for the POA Board of Directors. There are a number of good candidates running for the four seats open to property owners, but we feel that Lee Weddig especially deserves your consideration. Lee is a fine man who has generously given of his time and talents to our community as a past president of the Homeowners Association, a co-founder of the Alliance of Brunswick County Property Owners Associations and a member of the Board of Directors of the Calabash Fire Department. He is the best candidate to lead us through the turnover transition period. Please vote for Lee Weddig.

Ballots have been mailed to all property owners and must be returned to the accounting firm by April 15.

The dates and times for the "Calabash Fire Safety House" are April 13 and May 10, 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. both days. Golf Course Land Conservation Trust

Mason Anderson, President, Caw Caw Land Development Corp. (the developer of Brunswick Plantation), sent the following letter to all the residents of Brunswick Plantation:

Many, if not all of you, are aware of the fact that a number of golf courses in the Grand Strand area have been, or are in the process of, converting the golf course into housing developments. I could recount them for you, but I think you are aware of what I am talking about.

The purpose of this memo is to let you all know that is not the direction we are headed; to the contrary, we are going in the reverse direction. We have found a qualifying land trust which has agreed to accept from us a conservation easement in perpetuity on the footprint of the entire golf course which will ensure that we, or any owners in the future, cannot convert the golf course into a housing or real estate development. Giving up this right to develop the land now, or at anytime in the future, represents millions of dollars in value we are giving up, which will, in my opinion, accrue to the benefit of all property owners in the form of higher home and land values.

We felt this was the right thing to do in order to protect the future of our community, and to give peace of mind to you folks. For those of you who are golfers, you know we have also made substantial and expensive upgrades to the course -- this also helps property values for the off-course property, as well as property directly abutting the course. We are committed to Brunswick Plantation and to making it the best community and place to live in the area! We are also committed to the golf course, and it is our intentions to maintain and operate it in the top tier of courses in the area -- those of you who have been with us very long know the commitment my partners and I have to Brunswick Plantation and the golf course.

Thanks for being with us and thanks for your support!
